It’s been a common topic of conversation among the Bam Smack Pow staff that Marvel actually seemed a little conservative merchandising Guardians of the Galaxy. Sure, there were toys when the movie came out, and the deal with Subway (one that quickly ran out of free movie tickets, despite me continuing to consume Five-Dollar Footlongs!), but only recently have the floodgates opened in terms of collectibles and stuff of all kinds.

Sure, you know all this already. You’ve got all the goodies pre-ordered because you’re a Guardians of the Galaxy superfan, right? I’m not doubting you, but I would like to point out that you can’t really claim to be the number one GotG enthusiast unless you’ve already got money set aside for the Peavey Guardians of the Galaxy Rockmaster guitar, which you can see right here. Shred with the characters you know and love right on your axe — what could be better?
If this seems like an unlikely licensing connection, consider that Peavey does exclusive comic-themed guitars for Comic-Con International — it brought an awesome Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles guitar to San Diego this year — and its regular lines include instruments with Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man and Deadpool on them, just to name a few.
(Actually, Deadpool is a hero we could see rocking out on one of these …)
No word yet on when the Guardians of the Galaxy Rockmaster is going to be available, but just the fact that it’s on the way is going to make us reconsider our original stance a bit. It took a while, but the merchandising movement is now in full swing.
