Supergirl TV Series Confirmed To Be In The Works

Last week, we brought you news that a Supergirl TV series was being pitched to networks.  Today, via Comic Book Resources, we can confirm that a Supergirl TV series is actually in development.  This new information also comes with some clarifications that could have some dramatic effects on the current DC television universe.  Let’s start off with who’s actually working on it.  Previous reports had Michael Green doing development, but The Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti is the one who’s attached.  Second (I already gave away some of the excitement in saying Berlanti’s name), the series hasn’t even been pitched yet, which is contrary to previous reports.  Berlanti confirms that the project is still very much in the early stages and no network has been approached yet.

"We’re just starting to work on it … We haven’t gone to the networks yet, so. I’ll be happy, very excited to talk about it once we know where its home will be and that kind of stuff, but not at this moment."

That means that the previous rumor of The CW passing on the project is false.  Yep, all of you fanboys can say it now, “Potential of an Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl crossover extravaganza!”

Other creatives tied to the project are executive producer Ali Adler, who worked alongside Berlanti for the ABC superhero series No Ordinary Family, and DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns.  Let’s keep our fingers crossed that The CW sees this as an opportunity to build their own TV universe.
