Bendis’ Powers Releases First Image But No Release Date
By Nick Tylwalk
We know Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming’s Powers is coming to TV, or at least that’s the closest way to describe the series’ exclusive deal to be streamed over the PlayStation Network. We also know the show is filming it Atlanta and is coming along, we just don’t know when it’s going to hit our Sony devices.

Still, we at least got a first look at two of the main characters of Powers thanks to USA Today. The pic shows Sharlto Copley as Christian Walker, a police detective who used to be a “Power” himself — meaning a person with superhuman abilities. His partner is Deena Pilgrim, played by Susan Heyward, a less experienced cop who helps Walker investigate cases that deal with Powers.
Bendis told USA Today that the characters aren’t exactly the same as the ones in the comics, and that Walker, in particular, had a much different personality. Yet he seems comfortable with the differences:
"My dream was for the show and the books to almost run in parallel universes as they explore the same themes."
Sounds intriguing enough, but until a release date is confirmed, it’s hard to get too excited amidst a whole host of comic book-related programming coming our way over the next eight months or so. Stay tuned.
