Batman and Spider-man Team Up Against Heckler In Times Square
We all know that Batman and Spider-man are purveyors of justice, but who knew that their Times Square cosplayers would actually have to stand together to deal with a man who was sexually harassing one of them? Because that is exactly what the two men had to do recently in the middle of Times Square according to this article by the New York Post:
"Times Square became a superhero battleground when a pair of costumed “crime fighters” traded punches with an angry passer-by — and Spider-Man even slung a web in self-defense.José Escalona-Martinez, 41, was dressed as the vigilante crime fighter Batman and his buddy, Abdel Elkahezai, 35, was playing the web-slinging super hero Spider-Man when two rowdy men began heckling them at around 10:25 p.m. Saturday at 44th and Broadway, cops said.Midtown law-enforcement officers needed to break up the scuffle between the costumed characters and their nemesis — Thomas Rorke, 23."

The article goes on to say that Martinez and Elkahezai told officers that the whole brawl started when a drunk Rorke grabbed Martinez from behind and attempted to straddle him while saying “I’m gonna f*** you Batman!” Elkahezai became involved when he tried to shoo Rorke and his drunk companion, at which point Rorke grabbed Elkahezai.

Now all three men face charges, which I think is ridiculous as anyone has the right to defend themselves from sexual harassment. With any luck Martinez and Elkahezai will be able to prove the sexual harassment and the charges against them will be dropped so they can go back to amusing tourists in Times Square as Batman and Spider-man.
