Brandon Routh Has Seen The Atom Suit For Arrow
By Nick Tylwalk
So far, no one has actually come out and said we’ll see the Atom on Arrow, this season, just that Ray Palmer will be around as the new owner of Queen Consolidated. So does that mean the show’s producers are hedging on whether to introduce Palmer’s size-changing alter ego, or just that they don’t want to ruin the surprise?

According to Brandon Routh, the man playing Palmer, it’s probably the latter. When speaking to The DJ Tanner Show, he didn’t shy away about talking about the Atom costume:
"It’s a totally different suit and I haven’t been in it yet, I’ve only seen drawings. It’s a very different character, and I really can’t say too much about what the suit’s going to look like — just that it’s very different and I don’t believe it has a cape, which doesn’t really surprise anybody if you’ve seen the Atom in the comics."
Well, yeah, Brandon, not unless the show’s producers were going with Al Pratt as the inspiration for the costume:
Palmer has never worn a cape, and while his costume has changed over the years, it’s almost always stuck to a blue and red color scheme. This is the one I think most fans would consider a classic:
Hard to imagine it would be that bright on Arrow, but since Routh told the show he’d also be bringing in some lighter elements into a dark series, maybe the producers will explore that idea in a visual sense as well.
For now, it’s just nice to know there is a suit, and that we can look forward to the possibility of it showing up in the second half of Season 3 — which, by the way, gets going on October 8 on The CW.
