Top 10 Super Hero Video Games Of All Time
By Nick Tylwalk
1. Batman: Arkham City
Sometimes the obvious choice is still the correct one. Much bigger in scale than its predecessor, it’s also better, though it’s splitting hairs betwen Rocksteady’s Arkham games to determine which one deserves the crown.
Pretty much everything that could be ramped up from the first game is. All of Gotham is the backdrop this time, albeit transformed into something even more nightmarish than usual. Batman has more tricks — combat, gadgets, you name it — and he needs them because the odds are stacked even more against him this time.
You can play as Catwoman or Robin, and the Riddler Trophy hunt can keep you occupied for hours. It’s a world worth spending that time in, too, as the graphics, sound, and nearly every aspect of the game have been improved from Arkham Asylum.
In the end, Arkham City simply passes the test more than any other super hero video game that’s ever been released. You want to know what it’s like to be Batman? This is as close as you’re ever going to get — unless, of course, Rocksteady figures out a way to outdo itself again with Arkham Knight. If that prospect doesn’t make you smile, I don’t know what will.
