First Look: Four Of Today’s Top Creators On All-New Miracleman Annual #1
By Nick Tylwalk
Marvel just loves throwing that “All-New” label on comics. In this case, though, it’s actually warranted, as new stories about Miracleman (also known as Marvelman, before the lawyers got involved back in the day) by some big names do deserve some kind of descriptor to point them out.

Hence, All-New Miracleman Annual #1, which leads off with a Grant Morrison story that he wanted to write long ago, illustrated by Marvel head honcho Joe Quesada. It involves the former Kid Miracleman just before the Battle of London, and it’s sure to be foreshadowing at its grimmest.
The other story is by Peter Milligan and Mike Allred, teaming once again for their own take on the Mick Anglo era Mircaleman. As the hero joins forces with Kid Miracleman and Young Miracleman, he gets the inkling that something isn’t quite right. Why is something gnawing at his mind that none of this is real — and what is Project Zarathustra?
Admit it, you’re intrigued. And that’s kind of the point.
“Miracleman is a legend that resonates deeply in the world of comics,” Marvel Editor in Chief Axel Alonso said in a press release. “Without its trailblazing stories, who knows what the landscape of comics would look like today? If you want to live up to that pedigree, you don’t pull any punches. That’s why we tapped two incredible creative teams — Grant Morrison and Joe Quesada; Peter Milligan and Mike Allred — for this historic annual. All-New Miracleman Annual #1 is a must-read for any fan of the character, or the medium in general.”
We’ve got the briefest of first looks here to whet your appetite for when All-New Miracleman Annual #1 comes out on New Year’s Eve, one of only two Marvel comics to release that day. Scroll down to see more.
