As USA Today reports, the Dark Knight is going to be on his own limited edition set of “Forever” stamps (meaning they can be used even when postage rates increase in the future) issued by the U.S. Postal Service, and the first-day-of-issue ceremony will coincide with the first day of NYCC on October 9. One sheet of 20 stamps will feature Batman in four different designs ranging from his first appearance 75 years ago to the way he looks in DC comics today.
It’s actually a little surprising it’s taken this long to get this idea in motion, but we suppose better late than never when it comes to all things Batman. It’s a fitting tribute since we know Bruce Wayne won’t let snow, sleet or hail stop his war on crime in Gotham City, so in that respect, he’s got something in common with mail carriers.
Also, the USPS says it’s open to suggestions for villain stamps, so reach out if you want to see your favorite down the road.
