Dark Horse announced today that Groo: Friends and Foes will kick off in January 2015, marking his first ongoing adventures in 20 years. All of the names most associated with the character are back, including Sergio Aragones, Mark Evanier and Stan Sakai.
The series gets its name because each issue will see Groo and his dog Rufferto run into a different ally or enemy, “with the usual dire consequences.” It’s currently planned to only last a year, but that counts as ongoing in today’s market. the first issue will see him come across Captain Ahax, a seaman who might give Groo a run for his money in the “least brains” department.
Groo: Friends and Foes #1 will hit stores on January 21, 2015.
