Edge of Spider-Verse has already been pretty darn good. But now it’s time to get ready for the main event.

Spider-Verse starts for real in Amazing Spider-Man #9, with Dan Slott and Olivier Coipel getting set to show all of us just how massive the threat facing the Spider-Men (and Women!) really is. One Morlun was bad enough, but what happens when a whole family of Morluns gathers? Nothing good, we can imagine.
With the Morlun clan slaying spider-powered heroes throughout the multiverse, it’s going to take a truly monumental force of Spider-Men to stand against it.
“The sheer scope of this event and the amount of Spider-Characters in it are mind-boggling, but what’s crazy is that Dan Slott and Olivier have been able to squeeze everything but still have a story that has heart and truly counts.” Spider-Editor (no, that doesn’t mean he counts as one of the Spider-Men) Nick Lowe said in a statement.
Lofty praise, and we’ll have to wait until Amazing Spider-Man #9 goes on sale November 5 to see if it lives up to that promise. Until then, here’s a first look at the opening chapter of what’s guaranteed to be the biggest Spider-Man event to date — by a wide margin.
Oh, and we’ve got variant covers by Skottie Young and Gabriele Dell’Otto for your viewing pleasure as well.
