NYCC 2014: Friday Is Marvel Day
By Nick Tylwalk
Marvel made a few announcements on the first day of New York Comic Con 2014, but it was pretty quiet on the whole. There’s a good reason for that though: the company is planning on using today to really kick its plans for the show into high gear.

Yes, today is Marvel Day, with the first wave of panels and the largest creator signing that Marvel (or anyone else, most likely) has ever attempted. It’s all to honor the company’s 75th anniversary, which is certainly cause for celebration.
“Marvel’s 75th Anniversary belongs to our fans as much as it does to us,” Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso said in a statement. “We wanted to do something special for such a milestone anniversary. Something that had never been attempted before. With New York City being such a huge part of Marvel history, it only felt appropriate to bring our 75th Anniversary to NYCC in a huge way. Prepare for a celebration of all things Marvel like you’ve never seen before.”
The most ambitious of those events is the Marvel Day 75th Anniversary Signing. Starting at 10 am, NYCC attendees can head to the Marvel booth and enter the drawing for a chance to participate. Only 75 winners will be drawn, receiving a prize they’ll never forget: an exclusive autograph session with writers and artists from throughout Marvel history.
