Themyscria Set for ‘Batman v Superman’?
By Skip Harvey
We told you a few days ago that Batman v Superman shooting had moved from Morocco to New Mexico due to Ebola concerns. Now we have video evidence that not only has production indeed started there, but that they are creating a massive new set for the film. This local news story shows us the mysterious construction that some have been speculating could be Wonder Woman’s stomping grounds of Themyscria.
Considering Themyscria is supposed to be an island paradise, could this be Atlantis? I imagine that both locations are going to be heavily CGI’d, so I could honestly see either.
The design of the place seems vaguely Turkish, possibly trying to create a an ancient seeming structure with architecture more unfamiliar to the west. I’m curious as to what they are referencing and what they’re going for, ultimately. The visual language they build will help structure the kind of character they create. Both Wonder Woman and Aquaman are based on ancient myth, so we’re most likely seeing the modern interpretation of how their current states of being tie into those origins.
