Superior Iron Man #1, that is, with an exclusive variant cover by Ty Templeton that is limited to 3,000 copies and will be given for free to all VIP attendees at Wizard World Reno Comic Con on November 21-23. With a slight change of heart for Tony Stark and his special plans for distributing a new version of Extremis to the people of San Francisco, it’s one of Marvel’s most buzzed-about upcoming books.
“Superior Iron Man is going to be a thrill from page 1, panel 1,” Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing David Gabriel said in a statement. “Tony Stark is going to be put through the wringer and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have Ty Templeton commemorate the first issue with this exciting variant cover!”
Templeton, a recent inductee into the Canadian Comic Book Creator Hall of Fame, will be on hand at Wizard World Reno to sign copies of the issue. Other comic creators scheduled to attend include Neal Adams, Kevin Maguire and Greg Horn. Wizard World is also bringing a full complement of pop culture personalities for autographs and photo ops (additional fees apply), including William Shatner, Norman Reedus, Adam West and Burt Ward and the WWE’s Bella Twins.
