First Look: Jessica Drew Unleashed In Spider-Woman #1
By Nick Tylwalk
You may recall that Spider-Woman #1 got some publicity a few months ago for one of its variant covers. Just a little bit of coverage from the mainstream media, anyway. Ahem.

Fortunately, there’s a very real comic coming next month that really has nothing to do with that flap, and it’s looking to make noise of its own. Writer Dennis Hopeless and artist Greg Land send Jessica Drew on an important mission that spins directly out of Spider-Verse, charging her with keeping Silk safe while she’s on the run from Morlun and his family. Since Drew is no stranger to doing things the hard way, she’s actually the perfect hero to lead several spider-powered heroes behind enemy lines, which in this case means into entirely different dimensions.
Yet Marvel is also promising that the series is about more than just Spider-Verse, and that it will give Spider-Woman a chance to shine.
“This is the start of something very big for Spider-Woman,” Senior Editor Nick Lowe said in a statement. “Yes, it’s a big part of Spider-Verse, but this is going to be a character defining first arc for the Spider-Woman ongoing series.”
We’ll have to wait until November 19 to see how that plays out, but here’s a first look at a few pages of multi-dimensional action to whet your appetite.
