Review of Gotham Episode ‘Viper’
Warning: This review will contain spoilers for the fifth episode of Gotham entitled ‘Viper’
Well Batman fans it’s Tuesday and you know what that means, it’s time for another Gotham episode review! This week’s episode focused around a drug known as Viper which is being distributed throughout Gotham. This drug, which is a precursor to Venom (the drug that the villain Bane is addicted to and uses for his ridiculous strength) makes users extremely strong for a short amount of time before quickly killing them by sapping their bones of calcium so that their bones crumble and they suffocate as their rib cages collapse.

The GCPD are desperate to find out who is distributing this drug as it is being given away to drug addicts for free and people are going on drug fueled rampages before their bodies go squish. Meanwhile young Bruce is investigating how the two major crime families the Falcones and the Maronis were given such huge pieces in the Arkham project which is being spear-headed by Wayne Enterprises.
Oswald Cobblepot nearly gets himself and Jim Gordon killed when he admits to Maroni that he used to work for Fish Mooney (who is a member of the Falcone family). When Gordon confirms Cobblepot’s story of how he faked the man’s death so that Falcone would not kill Gordon Maroni let’s Gordon go and promotes Cobblepot within his organization.
While the ratings for Gotham may be dropping I have to give a lot of praise to the cast. These actors are all doing very convincing jobs playing their characters and they have succeeded in making me very passionate about this show. I get so excited with every glimpse into Bruce Wayne’s life we get as David Mazouz has managed to convince me that he is little Bruce Wayne. It’s always amazing to see such talented child actors and I hope we get to watch him grow up through this role.
I also can’t praise Jada Pinkett Smith enough for her portrayal of the mob boss Fish Mooney, I’ve said many times how great it is that Gotham has introduced a new strong empowered female villain and how I hope to see Fish Mooney become a major Gotham villainess like Catwoman and the other Gotham girls.
I am equally impressed with Robin Lord Taylor and Cory Micheal Smith, I can’t get enough of Cobblepot and Nygma, they just play their parts so well. This was a great episode of Gotham, and I can’t wait for next week I really love to watch these beloved characters develop!
