Joel Schumacher’s Batman Trilogy to Be Completed as Comic Series
By Skip Harvey
Finally, what NO ONE ASKED FOR. Batman Forever and Batman and Robin director Joel Schumacher’s planned trilogy will be completed in comic form. Originally the third film was to be called Batman Triumphant and was often rumored to star Kurt Russel, but the movie never saw the light of day. Thankfully. After the disastrous reaction to Batman and Robin, the studio decided to put some distance between The Dark Knight and Schumacher, paving the way for Chris Nolan’s movie trilogy. The rest is history.
Even Joel admits he screwed the pooch with his second go around with the franchise and I think he wants to save face at this point. Since audiences are finally willing to accept Batman 66 for what it was and enjoy it in context, perhaps the director thinks he’ll receive the same consideration for his complete saga.
The series is rumored to be drawn by Bat-veteran Dustin Nguyen, who is currently crafting Batman: lil Gotham.
