Batman And Lois Lane Ask You To Help Save The Bats
By Nick Tylwalk
Okay, so it’s not really Batman and Lois Lane. But the people playing them in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Ben Affleck and Amy Adams, along with the film’s director, Zack Snyder, are asking you to your part to ensure real life bats don’t vanish.

As the following video explains, bats have a lot of beneficial qualities. They also have a tendency to scare the crap out of a grown man by flying into his house and flapping around the living room, causing him to scream like a little girl. I mean, I’ve heard that they do that.
Still, bats serve as nature’s pest control, allowing farmers to spray less chemicals on their crops, among other good things. The problem is that they are up against an enemy that is killing them off, a fungal infection called White-Nose Syndrome that is threatening to wipe them out completely.
You can learn a lot more in the following video, which shows the Dawn of Justice cast and crew creating and painting bathouses (meaning, like birdhouses for bats, not another term for Wayne Manor) as a way of helping the endangered flying mammals survive by giving them places to live and raise babies. Even cooler, the houses are made of recycled pieces of the movie set, so they have a direct connection to Batman, Superman and other film versions of DC heroes.
