Hulk Vs. Maestro Round 2 In Future Imperfect Summer 2015 Teaser
By Nick Tylwalk
As we’ve discussed before, Marvel’s Summer 2015 teasers aren’t limited strictly to events. They’ve covered some memorable singe-character and team storylines too, and that’s the case with today’s image, which references The Incredible Hulk: Future Imperfect limited series from the early 90s.
In that story, an even stronger, smarter version of the Hulk who called himself the Maestro was the ruler of what was left of mankind following a nuclear war that killed all of Earth’s heroes about a century into the future. Made even stronger (and a little unhinged) by the extra radiation he absorbed over the decades, the Maestro was way too powerful for anything the people trying to rebel against him could possibly throw at him — except maybe if they reached back into the past and summoned the Hulk, which is exactly what they did.
Super heroes, time travel, dystopian sci-fi and the art of George Perez is always a good mix. As with all the Summer 2015 teasers, we have no way of knowing if Marvel is going back to the original story or using it as a springboard for something new, and the leading theory that Secret Wars is at the center of it all is still a good one.
At least we’ll have plenty to talk about next summer …
