Marvel Teases That Everything Ends Spring 2015
By Nick Tylwalk
It’s not too late to start that “Marvel is going to do a full reboot” rumor back up, is it?
The reason I ask is that the company threw a curveball with its teaser for today. Where the images we’ve been getting for the past few weeks have been for stories advertised for Summer 2015, this one simply says “Everything Ends” in Spring 2015. Take a look:
The fade into white makes it impossible not to think of DC’s Crisis on Infinite Earths, where an unstoppable wave of white antimatter destroyed world after world in the early part of the series.
It’s also a pretty safe bet that this ties into what Jonathan Hickman is doing in Avengers and New Avengers, where a central theme of “Time Runs Out” is that the end of everything is coming sooner than it should. Not everyone agrees on hiw it can or should be prevented, but the idea that many different worlds are converging on each other isthe crux of the problem.
Now the speculation is going to ratchet up another notch. If “Everything Ends” in the Spring, does it clear the deck for all of those stories we saw in the Summer 2015 teasers to happen again? Or is this merely a part of Secret Wars and an insanely long, interconnected alternate reality trip of some sort?
By the way, I still wouldn’t bet the house on a reboot, but stuff like this makes it appear that idea is at least in play. Intriguing, no?
