#2 The Fall (7/10/13)

Issue two starts with Superman attempting to save a building in Dubai from collapsing. The building is in jeopardy because of the terrorist group Ascension, the group that was suspected to be behind the satellite attack. Ascensi

on had gained control of the Apollodorus, the ninety million dollar prototype meant to revolutionize the construction industry. Superman saves the day just as the structural integrity of the building gives out.

After demolishing the Apollodorus, Clark heads to Gotham to see if Bruce Wayne can help him identify who or what knocked the eighth satellite off track. We then learn that the extremely precautionary Bruce Wayne has developed a Bat Suit that is equipped to operate along the entire electromagnetic spectrum, making it undetectable from even Superman’s X-ray vision (holy haberdashery Batman, that’s awesome). Bruce tells Clark that whoever redirected the satellite was not only a superhuman, but also significantly more powerful than Superman. Bruce is able to track the location of this superhuman to somewhere in the Utah desert.

General Lane is waiting

for Superman in the desert, and upon his arrival, Superman demands that the general confess to what he is hiding. Clearly unwilling to compromise, General Lane reveals an arsenal of weapons created to injure Superman, and threatens to use them if Superman does not leave the secret facility immediately. After refusing to leave, Superman is fired upon and badly injured. General Lane orders his solders to continue firing at Superman, and just when it seems as if Superman would meet his ultimate fate, the government’s secret superhuman bursts up from the ground and claims that the killing of Superman was a privilege reserved for him.

We then cut to Lois Lane traveling to visit the man who was retrieved from the sea. Before reaching the mysterious man, Ascension cuts all power to Lois’ private jet, and we are left with a dramatic cliffhanger as the plane begins to free fall. The issue closes with Lex Luthor constructing his mech suit and breaking out of prison.
