With earth on the brink of total destruction, Superman pursues Ascension in the hope of saving humanity, while Wraith believes that they should only focus on the nukes set to hit America. The two eventually go their separate ways.

Once Superman locates As

cension, he rescues Lois, but one of the Ascension members self-detonates the device that controls the missiles. With all hope seemingly lost, Superman takes the last remaining crystal from the controlling device and uses it to self-destruct all of the nukes simultaneously. Lois and Superman return to the Fortress of Solitude so Superman can further analyze the crystal. Upon further inspection, Superman discovers that the crystal is being used as a homing beacon, and it has just led General Lane’s army to the doorstep of the Fortress of Solitude.

In the epilogue, Wraith breaks into the Batcave seeking to kill Batman.
