#8 Unchained (9/10/14)

The battle between Superman and Wraith wages all the way from Gotham to the Gobi Desert, but no matter how hard or fast he hits, Superman is unable to do any significant damage to Wraith. The brawl continues all the way to outer s

pace, through the moon and back. Unfortunately, Superman still cannot gain the upper hand — that is, until he takes the battle approximately 420 miles beneath Earth’s surfac,e where the strength of the magnetic force coming from Earth’s core cancels out their superpowers.

This leave the two super humans with only their intellect and combat abilities. In the end, this proves to be the advantage that Superman needs, as he is easily able to defeat Wraith and leave him buried underneath the Earth’s surface. Superman then returns to the destroyed Fortress of Solitude to resume his interrogation of General Lane.

While trying to figure out more about the crystal, Jimmy Olsen shows up staggering through the arctic nearly frozen to death. Jimmy projects a holographic message of Lex Luthor into the arctic night sky, and Luthor tells Superman that there is a fleet of alien ships ready to attack Earth. The only way to stop them is for Superman to inject himself with a syringe of solar fuel that would effectively turn him into a massive bomb. Superman would then have to fly into the enemy fleet, ultimately sacrificing himself in order to save the world.
