An Australian Man Has Built His Own Batmobile. Wait Until You See Why.
By Nick Tylwalk
Everyone knows that Bruce Wayne devised his Batman identity in the comics to strike fear into the superstitious, cowardly hearts of criminals. In real life, people tend to dress as Batman to achieve an emotion other than fear. Japan’s Chibatman does it to cheer people up, and so does Zac Mihajlovic.
A 29-year old Australian, Mihajlovic has actually one-upped Chibatman and his Batpod by constructing his own working replica of the Batmobile as pictured in the 1989 Batman movie. Yes, that means it has the big jet nozzle in the back, but it doesn’t cocoon itself in metal plates when it’s driver says the word “shields.” At least I don’t think it does.
Mihajlovic dresses as the Dark Knight and drives around in the Batmobile for the best possible reason, which is to make dreams come true for terminally ill children. He’s like a one-man Make-A-Wish Foundation — and indeed, he works with that organization — though one that just happens to suit up like one of the world’s most famous super heroes.
Watch the video below to learn more about how Mihajlovic built the car and if he’d ever consider selling it. Also, just rest content in the knowledge that there are some really awesome people out there in the world, at least some of whom are super hero fans.
