Chris Nolan Refutes His Shot at Marvel
By Skip Harvey
Yesterday we brought you a story about shoehorning a teaser for Man of Steel at the end of The Dark Knight Rises (a la Marvel) and why Christopher Nolan didn’t want Zack Snyder to do that. He was quoted by The Guardian saying:
"A real movie wouldn’t do that."
Well, that seemed like a pretty nasty criticism of the way Marvel ties their films together and it certainly became the media narrative right after. Nolan has since taken exception to the quote and refuted it on BuzzFeed,.
"Subsequent to publication, Nolan disputed the quote attributed to him by Snyder. According to Nolan, he had told Snyder, “We shouldn’t be chasing other movies, but stay true to the tone of Man of Steel.”"
That actually sounds a lot more like something the director would say. I was honestly surprised when I wrote the story yesterday, but this does make more sense.
We no longer have to wonder what fits in where when it comes to tying in these films, since DC has rebooted Batman into a shared cinematic universe with Batman v Superman.
