All DC Comics Series Will Take Two Months Off In 2015 For Convergence

All those DC comics you’re currently reading are going to be taking a break next spring.

The reasons are both logistical, as the DC publishing staff is relocating from New York to California, and creative, in the form of the Convergence event that will feature the return of past versions of many DC characters. Now Rich Johnston of Bleeding Cool is reporting that all DC titles will be on hiatus during April and May as Convergence runs weekly from April 1 through May 27 — unless this turns out to be an elaborate April Fool’s joke, in which case, well played, DC.
In place of the normal books will be a number of one-shots, or possibly two-shots, to ensure that readers still have something to buy. We’ll find out who’s working on those during the weeks to come.
The last time a DC publishing initiative “paused” the company’s entire line of super hero comics was three years ago for Flashpoint. If you recall, that series didn’t seem like it would be as big a deal as it turned into, effectively rebooting large portions of the company’s comic book continuity save for the Green Lantern (because the rings wouldn’t let them?) and kind of, sort of, the Batman books.
Fan speculation is going to naturally run toward whether a similar reboot or relaunch will occur in the wake of Convergence, and that’s probably just fine with DC. Just remember not to get upset at the nice folks working at your LCS next April, because they didn’t forget to pull the titles on your list. They simply won’t be there to pull.
