Doodle Jump DC Super Heroes Is Out, And It’s Pretty Great

I’m not sure if you have kids, and if you do, whether or not they’ve been bitten by the Doodle Jump bug, but mine certainly have. It’s a pretty simple but fun series of mobile games that involve continually bouncing from one platform to the next in an ascent ever higher into the sky, mixed in with some mild combat elements and intermittent boss battles. It’s also done in a delightful art style that makes it appear your kids could have drawn all the characters themselves, and the title character kind of looks like a four-legged yellow Q*Bert.

Anyway, this is all relevant because the Doodle Jump DC Super Heroes version of the game is now out for iOS devices, and it’s pretty excellent. Same cute art, same endless jumper gameplay, except now the title character is dressed as Batman, his projectiles are Batarangs, and the boss battles are against classic villains. I can confirm the presence of Riddler, Penguin, Bane and Joker, for starters.

And since a key feature of the series is the ability to unlock more costumes as you level up, you can do that here too. You start the game with the New 52 Batsuit, but you can earn the “Troika” costume and a 1970s look fairly quickly. All the power-ups you can purchase with crystals are also based on Bruce Wayne’s wonderful toys.

It’s a free download, so there’s no reason not to hit the App Store and give it a look as a way to kill a few spare moments whenever they come your way, particularly since updates will bring even more heroes and villains into the game. It is called Doodle Jump DC Super Heroes and not Doodle Jump Batman, after all.
