More Guardians Of The Galaxy: Bendis, Adams To Launch Guardians Team-Up

You couldn’t get enough of the Guardians of the Galaxy in theaters. You’re probably going to help make the Blu-ray release one of the hottest gifts of the holiday season. You really like Rocket Raccoon and Groot. So naturally, Marvel is going to give you more of what you want.

More from Comics

It’s coming in the form of a new series revealed exclusively by USA Today, Guardians Team-Up. With the first two-part story written by Brian Michael Bendis and drawn by Arthur Adams, the title will do exactly what its name suggests, pairing either the entire team or individual members with other Marvel heroes so that the Guardians aren’t “off doing their own thing.”

Yet it’s fair to ask if some part of the appeal of the Guardians is precisely because they’re having adventures outside of the normal sphere of Marvel concern — in other words, Earth. Team-up books are a staple of super hero comics, but this announcement leaves this writer hoping that the series has more Avengers in space than Guardians hanging out on our world.

Ah, except for Groot. That guy’s welcome here any time. Look for the first issue of Guardians Team-Up in February, with more of a sneak peek from Marvel likely before that.
