The Oldest-known Batmobile Is Going Up For Auction

facebooktwitterreddit

Wanna own the oldest Batmobile in existence? Well, you’ll probably need to have plenty of Batbucks, but the opportunity is happening soon.

More from News

This Batmobile was built in the early 60s and predates the Batmobile in the original Batman TV Show that starred Adam West & Burt Ward. It was actually built by New Hampshire teenager Forrest Robinson just for fun. The car caught the notice of of a representative for All Star Dairy, a company that sold Batman Ice Cream & drinks at the time, and the leased the car for several years. It was never officially licensed as a Batmobile, and after years of going through various owners and neglect, it was pretty much a husk when it was sold on Ebay last year to Sid Belzberg, owner of ToyCarExchange.com.

Belzberg then shipped the Batmobile to Borbon Fabrications in Sacramento, which spent over 1700 man hours restoring it.

Bidding on this oldest (yet not officially licensed Batmobile) is going to start November 17that $90,000 and be available to be bid on until December 6th. If you think that’s a lot of money, it’s a bargain compared to an official Batmobile from the TV show, which went for over 4 million this past January.
