Will Batman V. Superman Address Jason Todd?

The death of Bruce Wayne’s parents will be seen yet again in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Even though everyone has seen it a lot. But considering Batman v. Superman is a film that really opens up the DC universe and makes it all connected like the DC comic verse is, will it address a much more relatively recent tragedy in Batman’s past?

More from Movies

Jason Todd was the second Robin, infamously voted to a grisly death by readers by the hand of the Joker (though urban myth says it was a landslide vote when it was in fact incredibly close). In 2005, Jason Todd was resurrected and became the anti-hero Red Hood, who the last decade has both fought against and alongside Batman depending on his current motives.

So we know Batman v. Superman features an older, somewhat weary, grizzled Batman. There are rumors of his partner (if he has one) actually being a female Robin. Even if he doesn’t have a partner, being that these movies will be the closest to the comics to date, it needs to address Batman’s former partners in crime-fighting, and Comicbook.com is saying it should specifically address Jason Todd’s demise, which still haunts Batman. Here’s an excerpt:

"Showing how devastating Jason’s death was to Bruce would give the audience an idea of how this Batman is motivated by his past mistakes, which may have also led him to pushing away his allies so that they wouldn’t get hurt. However, acknowledging Jason’s death wouldn’t serve merely as a character introspective for Bruce. It could also hint at future events."

I think they make a pretty good point, and it would be something really fresh to see Jason Todd’s life and death at least acknowledged on the big screen, even if only in passing.
