Secret Wars #1 Cover Reveal Stresses Importance Of Time Runs Out
By Nick Tylwalk
When it comes to the new version of Secret Wars that Marvel will be hitting us with next year, it’s been mostly educated guessing up to this point while waiting for the House of Ideas to confirm whether or not we were right. For example, most fans figured all those Summer 2015 teasers referencing (mostly) past events played into it somehow, but it wasn’t until Marvel literally showed us how to put the pieces together that they really made any sense.

Similarly, since Jonathan Hickman is writing Secret Wars and is coming to the conclusion of his trademark long game with the “Time Runs Out” arc currently playing out in Avengers and New Avengers, it was safe to assume that it’s a story that sets the table for next spring. Or at least it is now, because Marvel has released the cover to Secret Wars #1 along with a press release that includes the following:
"The road to the biggest comic event of 2015 is happening right now in the pages of Avengers and New Avengers, so jump on board before TIME RUNS OUT! Be there when the Secret Wars commence this May in SECRET WARS #1!"
It doesn’t get any more confirmationy (not a real word, I know) than that.
The cover is also pretty cool, as you can see below. It comes courtesy of the great Alex Ross, as will the others during the series, and features just a taste of the time and world-bending goodness that hopefully awaits.
Secret Wars #1 goes on sale in May 2015, with words by Hickman, cover by Ross and interior art by Esad Ribic.
