This Is Happening: An Ant-Man Prose Novel

It’s in Marvel’s best interest to get Ant-Man in the public consciousness in as many different ways as posssible prior to the release of his movie next July. Fortunately, that’s something that Marvel is an expert at doing, even by methods you wouldn’t naturally expect. Like a prose novel starring Scott Lang, for instance.

I didn’t just make that up. Marvel announced today that Ant-Man: Natural Enemy, a novel by Jason Starr, will go on sale on June 3, 2015. The book will follow Lang and his daughter Cassie (thankfully still alive in the prose world) as they attempt to settle into a new city, only to be confronted by a villain from Scott’s past who might be looking for payback or simply trying to get his or her hands on the Ant-Man suit.

“Marvel’s exciting line of prose novels offer a completely new window into the Marvel Universe,” Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing David Gabriel said in a press release. “Whether you’re an Ant-Man fan, or looking to experience a new story featuring the breakout character of 2015, this novel is going to be an exciting thrill ride from cover to cover.”

Yes, well, we’ll be the judge of that, though Starr has a long list of both novels and comic to his name, so he should be a good fit for this project. Marvel is going to make you like Ant-Man, darn it, just you wait and see.
