Korean Hero White Fox Coming To Marvel Comics

Marvel isn’t afraid to look anywhere for characters it thinks it can use in as many forms of media as possible. Usually that means getting comic book characters onto your TV or into movie theaters, but sometimes the pipeline flows the other direction as well.

The Hollywood Reporter says Marvel is looking to Korea for its latest comics import, a female hero called White Fox. Announced by C.B. Cebulski at a conference in Seoul, White Fox made her first appearance in a webtoon licensed by Marvel but produced by Korean animators for Disney Korea.

As THR notes, some of the members of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. team created especially for the show (notably Agents Fitz, Simmons and Skye) will cross to comics in the new S.H.I.E.L.D. series that debuts on December 31, so it could be that this type of activity is picking up across the board for Marvel. Most likely, it’s a result of the desires of parent Disney to have the company’s characters in as many forms of media as possible, the better to keep them in the public consciousness.

It’s too early to say, but with Secret Wars coming in 2015 and looking as if it will include darn near every version of any Marvel super hero ever, you can’t rule it out.
