Three Avengers Now! Titles Return For Second Printings

Even though fans are rightfully skeptical of what it means when comics return for second or third print runs in this day and age, it’s still an indication that there’s demand for an issue when it has to return to the presses. In the case of the three headliners of Marvel’s Avengers NOW! initiative, the company’s plan to get people hooked with curiosity and to stick around with good stories seems to be working so far, as they’re all going back for more.

Marvel announced today that issue #1 of All-New Captain America and Superior Iron Man and issue #2 of Thor are all getting second printings, which will arrive in stores just in time for Christmas — and I mean that literally, as they’ll go on sale on December 24.
All three series feature significant changes to the heroes considered the “Trinity” that is the foundation of the Avengers. All-New Captain America has former Falcon Sam Wilson taking over for the now physically depleted Steve Rogers, Thor (which really could be titled All-New Thor) has a mystery woman as the new Goddess of Thunder, and Superior Iron Man follows a Tony Stark who has given in completely to his self-centered, indulgent side thanks to the events of AXIS. It’s hardly surprising that the early issues would sell well with such bold strokes at the center of them, but if they continue to sell at a higher level than before after four or five months … Well, then it’s hard to say Avengers NOW! wasn’t a good move.
That remains to be seen, but if you missed out on any of these issues, you can head into your LCS on Christmas Eve (if it’s open!) and pick them up.
