6. Vision

It’s technically not correct to call Vision a guy since he’s a synthezoid, but here’s a guy who owes his life to the Avengers and has repaid that debt by being a pillar of the team for far longer than many fans would probably suspect. As Brian Cronin of Comics Should Be Good! discovered a few years ago when compiling a list of Avengers who had the longest uninterrupted runs on the team, Vision actually went from #58 to #211 of the original series before he finally took a break. That’s a lot of avenging!

Though he’s been used as a weapon against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes a time or two (that was Ultron’s original purpose for him, after all) and literally been taken apart, he always finds a way to return and contribute again. You could also say that being an Avenger is in his blood, as he’s the “grandson” of Hank Pym and has a mind based on the thought patterns of Wonder Man. Plus he was married to the Scarlet Witch in what was actually one of the steadier relationships in comics despite involving a mutant and an android.

As people have pointed out on the internet more than once, there’s a reason why the Vision was featured in the little box that used to run in the upper-left corner of Marvel Comics for so long. He was synonymous with the team for years, and he’s literally given his all more than once.
