According to Variety, that man is Oscar Isaac, an American actor whose biggest credit so far was as the lead in Inside Llewyn Davis, for which he won a host of film critic awards last year. However Isaac’s genre cred is about to go through the roof, both with this role and an as yet unknown part in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Reportedly set in 1983, X-Men: Apocalypse will serve as the final chapter of the current run of movies that began with X-Men: First Class and continued in this year’s well-received X-Men: Days of Future Past. We got our first glance at the mutant villain also known as En Sabah Nur in the post-credits scene of that film, standing with what appeared to be an early version of his Four Horsemen in ancient Egypt. Since he’s essentially immortal, it’s no problem for Isaac to portray him in more modern times, though given his typically gray-skinned, blue-lipped appearance, we’re guessing some makeup and/or CGI will be involved.
X-Men: Apocalypse will also star James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence, and will release on May 27, 2016.
