The Walking Dead Season 5, Midseason Finale Synopsis – Coda
By Nick Tylwalk
I’m not an expert on music theory or structure, but I’m pretty sure that the word “coda” refers to the final movement or passage in a piece of music. That means The Walking Dead means business with its midseason finale, as it’s titled “Coda.”

But what exactly is coming to an end? The attempted rescue in Atlanta, certainly. The group’s time with a relatively safe haven (and is there any other kind, in this show?) at the church, probably. And since it’s been a little bit since we saw any major characters die, it could be the end for someone we know and have grown to care about.
As always, the official synopsis from AMC is sparse. Here’s what it has to say about episode 8 of Season 5:
"Rules and morals have been tossed aside by new enemies. Rick will try to find a peaceful agreement, but they might prefer violence."
It’s interesting that Rick is mentioned as seeking a solution without violence, since he’s been fairly quick on the trigger this season. He basically had to be talked into the attempted prisoner exchange at the hospital by Daryl, and since that didn’t exactly go as planned, you figure he might fall back on his tried and true methods.
We’ll have to wait and see on that and the fate of a handful of characters whose futures seem to be hanging in the balance. Tune in to AMC Sunday at 9 pm for the Season 5 midseason finale, and be sure to check out both The Walking Dead After Show on theStream.tv and our sister site Undead Walking for all the coverage you can shake a severed walker limb at.
