The Dark Knight Returns…Returns???

facebooktwitterreddit

Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns is one of the most popular and iconic Batman stories. So much so that it’s being used as a template for Batman v Superman. A few years ago Miller revisited his dark possible future with The Dark Knight Strikes Again, but it didn’t receive quite the same fanfare. That, however, isn’t going to stop DC from cashing in on the original story’s popularity. My former workplace BleedingCool.com is reporting a rumor that a second sequel to DKR is on its way.

Supposedly, this installment will be written by Miller and Batman Uber-Scribe Scott Snyder. Art won’t be handled by Miller due to his poor health, but the question of just who will draw it is a source of controversy. Rumor has it that Snyder wants a one-shot drawn by Sean Murphy, while editors want a longer miniseries with big name Bat-artists like Jim Lee, Andy Kubert and Greg Capullo.

This is all just rumor, but it would not surprise me at all. DC has been plugging this book more than most classic Batman stories in recent years. It’s one of the few that Christopher Nolan hadn’t dipped into for his series, though they did release a 2 part animated version of the book a couple of years ago.
