Robert Kirkman Says Zombie Virus In The Walking Dead Is Not Sexually Transmitted

The post-apocalyptic world of The Walking Dead is dangerous enough between walkers and untrustworthy fellow survivors. Should the characters in the hottest show on TV also have to worry about turning into a zombie from having sex with someone who’s already been bitten?

Not according to the creator of the franchise, Robert Kirkman. In response to an inquiry to the letters section of The Walking Dead comic, he made it clear that the zombie virus is not an STD:

"If you had a septic wound that was infecting your blood stream, would you pass that infection through sex? No. So…having sex with someone after they’ve been bitten … much like eating a living human’s flesh after they’ve been bitten (show reference … to a thing that happened years ago in the comic) has no effect on you."

All joking aside, that’s the definitive word on the virus from the person who invented it. Though everyone in TWD will turn into a walker after death, it’s only people who are already walkers who have the ability to kill you with their bodily fluids. So, um, I suppose if your significant other is bitten, you can have one last bit of affection before you put him or her out of their misery.

And on that, I’m going to forget we even talked about this …
