First Look: Logan Dead But Not Forgotten In Wolverines #1
By Nick Tylwalk
For a second, I almost thought this new weekly series was about the University of Michigan’s athletic teams. Then I had a brief moment of trepidation when I thought maybe Marvel had cloned Logan.

Happily, Wolverines #1 is none of those things. Instead, it’s a tale of all the people affected by the Death of Wolverine saga, including X-23, Daken, Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike, and even the newcomer known as Sharp. They don’t have much in common, but they’re all going to be drawn into a struggle for the valuable adamantium holding Logan’s remains and the threat that led to Wolverine’s demise, which is still out there.
“In a way, most of the characters featured in [Wolverines] are incomplete reflections of Wolverine,” co-writer Ray Fawkes said in an interview with Marvel.com “Perhaps now that he’s gone, they are free to fully realize themselves? Or maybe they’ll be annihilated by the void that he’s left behind?”
Fawkes and Charles Soule (the man who offed Wolvie, for what it’s worth) are doing the writing, with Nick Bradshaw and Alisson Borges on art. The weekly adventure kicks off on January 7, but we’ve got a first look at Wolverines #1 right now, along with variant covers by Gabriele Dell’Otto, Zach Howard, Skottie Young and Salvador Larroca. Get ready to hear more than one set of claws being popped in this one.
