Gotham: A Possible Gordon/Thompkins Romance?
When Gotham returns January 5th, James Gordon will begin his stint at Arkham Asylum as a security guard. We’ll also meet Morena Baccarin as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, an important figure in Bruce Wayne’s life. But with Gordon’s fiance currently have left him, will there be romance between the two?

Granted, Ben Mackenzie, who plays James Gordon on Gotham hinted at Thompkins as a love interest when Baccarin was cast, but things change as a series goes on, and the possibility of a romance between the two wasn’t really brought up again until now when TV Guide executive editor Adam Bryant was asked what we could expect to see when Gotham returns:
"Even though Gordon will be working a new gig at Arkham Asylum, it won’t take him long to make a new friend: Dr. Leslie Thompkins (guest star Morena Baccarin), who, despite being a bit different from her comic book counterpart, is one of the good guys. “She doesn’t fall into the corrupt Gotham world,” Baccarin says. “She wants to make it a better place.” Because she shares that mentality with Gordon, they become a natural pair. “They have this immediate connection… based on just how insane everything is around them,” she says. “It’s the beginning of a really great, great friendship.” But now that Gordon’s fiancée skipped town, could that “friendship” become more? “There’s definitely chemistry — so I’m not going to say no!” Baccarin teases."
Not a confirmation, but it’s certainly possible that Gordon and Thompkins could at least have a brief fling. In the comics Gordon also had a relationship with Sara Essen (and she eventually became his second wife) who is of course the current Homicide Squad Police Captain in Gotham. Seems like Gordon’s love life is going to be pretty complicated when Gotham returns January 5th!
