Agents Of SHIELD: Could We See A Hawkeye Guest Appearance?
By Nick Tylwalk
I’m not going out on a limb by saying that out of all the Avengers who could make a guest appearance on Agents of SHIELD, Hawkeye would make the most sense. At the very least, he’d be 1B to Black Widow’s 1A, given the way their Marvel Cinematic Universe backgrounds are intertwined with SHIELD.

(Speaking of which, where the heck was Hawkeye during the Hydra infiltration of SHIELD anyway? Couldn’t Captain America, Black Widow and Falcon have used another hand? But I digress … )
Marvel has been pretty good about letting Season 2 of Agents of SHIELD stand on its own, which is fine, because the show has been very good even if the ratings haven’t reflected that. Yet there’s no doubt that a guest spot by the Avenging Archer would definitely spice things up, Jeremy Renner’s busy schedule notwithstanding.
And it could be in the works. Here’s what Clark Gregg, the man you know as Director Phil Coulson, posted on his Facebook page earlier this week:
Yeah, maybe Gregg just likes Secret Avengers, where both characters were teammates, and an image very much like the one above appeared on the cover of last month’s issue (and inside, I’m told). He could also be teasing a Hawkeye guest spot, though Gregg is pretty social media savvy and that might be too obvious, so … now I’m thinking myself in circles.
I’d love to see Clint Barton drop in, not only because I would think he’d want to know what is going on with SHIELD these days, but also because Hawkeye has simply had the least time to shine among Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in the movies so far. He was in the first Thor for like two minutes and spent a big chunk of The Avengers under Loki’s control. We really don’t know if he’s anything like the Clint from the comics because we haven’t seen enough of him.
Hopefully that was Gregg doing some obvious foreshadowing and thinking we’d all figure he just did it to get us all going.
