The Flash Season 1, Episode 10 Synopsis: Revenge Of The Rogues
By Nick Tylwalk
The Flash isn’t due back on TV with new episodes until January 20. Does that mean it’s too early to start talking about what’s coming up next? Heck no — especially when the show is coming back with an installment called “Revenge of the Rogues.”

We’ve already seen Barry Allen face off against a number of classic Rogues from the comics, including Weather Wizard, Captain Boomerang and Captain Cold. On top of that, we witnessed the birth of Heat Wave thanks to the gift of his trademark heat gun from Captain Cold. But fortunately for the Flash, he hasn’t had to deal with any of them teaming up.
That’s going to change in “Revenge of the Rogues,” with Cold and Heat Wave working together to pull off a job and lure Barry into more danger than he can handle. Here’s what the official synopsis released by The CW has to say:
"Leonard Snart AKA Captain Cold (guest star Wentworth Miller) returns to Central City with a new hotheaded partner in tow – Mick Rory AKA Heat Wave (guest star Dominic Purcell). The duo plan to steal a multi-million dollar painting, but Cold has another agenda while in town – to set a trap for The Flash. Snart and Mick kidnap someone close to The Flash and threaten to kill them unless The Flash shows up for a battle of fire and ice. Barry tells Joe (Jesse L. Martin) he isn’t sure he should take on Snart again after the casualties that happened the last time they fought. Meanwhile, Barry asks Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) to help him double his training efforts so he’s ready for the Reverse Flash when he returns to Central City. Iris (Candice Patton) deals with the aftermath of Barry’s confession, and Cisco makes the CCPD a new shield. Nick Copus directed the episode written by Geoff Johns & Kai Yu Wu."
The Barry-Iris subplot isn’t going away. Not only do shows on The CW need their love triangles (as fans of Arrow know only too well), history suggests that the two of them will end up together — unless Johns and company are using the New 52 Barry as a template, as he’s so far remained free from romance with Iris.
We also know that the Reverse-Flash is going to be looming over everything Flash does for the rest of the season. The villain’s identity is still an open question as well, despite what it looked like in the midseason finale, though we’ve seen that Wells has been angling for Barry to keep pushing the upper limits of his speed almost since the beginning. Even if the doctor turns out not to be zipping around dressed in yellow, he’s got ulterior motives for the Flash, of which our hero is so far blissfully unaware.
Last but not least, I like Cisco trying to help out the CCPD too. Now that metahumans are a way of life, there’s no reason they shouldn’t get some cool new gear to help keep them safe.
Add it all up and it’s going to be a tantalizing wait for The Flash to return. You’ll want to clear your calendar for Tuesday, January 20 at 8 pm if you haven’t already.
