USA Today entertainment writer Brian Truitt tweeted out the premiere date for Daredevil earlier today, revealing that it will hit Netflix on Friday, April 10. That’s a bit earlier than we’ve been led to believe, as earlier reports had the show arriving in May.
The difference between this and other Marvel TV projects, like Agents of SHIELD, is that all 13 episodes of Daredevil are expected to be available at the same time. That almost makes it more like one really long movie than a traditional television series, albeit one that is still divided into hour-long chunks so it doesn’t completely abandon the series paradigm.
Daredevil is leading off Marvel’s Netflix initiative, and will be followed for shows starring Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. The plan is to have all of the characters team up as the Defenders after the individual series are complete, though the company hasn’t revealed all of the details on that just yet.
It’ll be interesting to see if the early arrival of Matt Murdock moves up the rest of the heroes’ debuts as well. Daredevil stars Charlie Cox as Murdock, the blind attorney who fights crime as the titular hero, as well as Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin.
