Robin Lord Taylor Says He’s Not The Joker On Gotham, As Far As He Knows
By Nick Tylwalk
You’d figure playing one of Batman’s most notorious enemies on Gotham should be enough for Robin Lord Taylor. As the Penguin, he’s one of the more prominent characters in the first season of the Fox series.

That hasn’t stopped some people from assigning him another role as well: namely, that Taylor is going to end up as the Joker in a bit of a switcheroo. Even the actor himself has read the theory on reddit, and he came away impressed with the thought that went into it.
Still, he didn’t hesitate to tell MTV News that the theory isn’t true, at least as far as he knows.
"I find it incredibly unlikely, but at the same time, I have no idea what could happen. I get the scripts and I’ll read something, and I will be just as shocked as everyone else is when they see it happen onscreen."
That answer seems like it could inspire this reaction from some fans:
Or it could just mean exactly what it sounds like, which is that Taylor isn’t currently intended to be the Joker, and if the writers end up going in that direction further down the road, he won’t find out about it until he has the script with the reveal in his hands. Truthfully, I’m kind of hoping the Joker isn’t even someone we’ve seen yet, simply because the writers and producers shouldn’t feel the need to cram every Batman villain ever into Season 1.
Also, that Joker guy tends to cast a pretty big shadow over everyone else when he’s around, you know?
