Gotham Ratings Watch: Things are Looking Up
By Skip Harvey
Let’s be honest. Gotham‘s ratings can be spun several ways. It’s true that the Batman-less prequel has some of the strongest viewership of any FOX drama in quite some time. It’s also true that the series’s ratings have dropped steadily since the premiere. In fact, it was essentially cut in half.
That finally seemed to change with the mid-season finale, seeing what was hopefully a stabilization of the decline. It didn’t really gain anything, but at least the bleeding seems to have stopped. Here’s what it looked like 5 weeks ago:
"Final broadcast primetime ratings for Monday, November 24, 2014 (Live + Same Day) :TimeNetShow18-49 Rtg/ShrViewers (millions)8:00NBCThe Voice (8-10PM)2.6/79.60ABCDancing with the Stars (8-10PM)2.5/714.87FOXGotham2.3/76.05CBS2 Broke Girls1.6/56.85CWThe Originals0.6/21.268:30CBSThe Big Bang Theory – R1.5/46.719:00CBSScorpion (9-10:29)1.9/59.28FOXSleepy Hollow1.4/44.28CWJane The Virgin0.4/10.9610:00ABCCastle (10:15-11:15)1.7/59.55NBCState of Affairs1.5/45.78410:30CBSNCIS: Los Angeles (10:29-11:29)1.5/58.82From tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com"
Well, it looks like good news for Gotham fans. Here are the numbers from the past week:
"TimeNetShow18-49 Rtg/ShrViewers (millions)8:00FOXGotham2.5/87.06CBS2 Broke Girls2.4/79.08ABCThe Bachelor (8-11PM)2.2/77.76NBCThe Celebrity Apprentice (8-10PM)2.0/66.49CWThe Originals – R0.2/10.808:30CBSMike & Molly2.2/69.649:00CBSScorpion (9-9:59PM)2.4/712.32FOXSleepy Hollow1.6/44.48CWJane The Virgin – R0.3/10.7210:00CBSNCIS: Los Angeles (9:59-11PM)2.0/611.90NBCState of Affairs1.0/34.47"
That’s a decent jump for the first week back. In fact, it’s some of the highest ratings since the show first aired.
Is this a sign of things to come? We’ll have to have a few more weeks of evidence, but it’s certainly a good start.
