DC’s blossoming super hero universe on The CW is going to continue for at least another season.

To no one’s surprise, the network renewed both Arrow and The Flash for the 2015-16 television season. It will be the fourth season for the Emerald Archer and the second for the Fastest Man Alive, and considering they are The CW’s top two shows in terms of both total viewers and the 18-49 demographic, their renewals were likely just a formality.

They air on different nights, which originally surprised me since I thought The CW might try to create one night where its prime time lineup was completely devoted to DC properties. As it turns out, that’s happening anyway, as the network announced that iZombie will debut on March 17, and will follow The Flash every Tuesday at 9 pm.

I’m assuming that iZombie, which is based on a Vertigo series (and reportedly only loosely, at that) will not be set in the Arrow-verse. But Warner has been surprisingly open-minded about linking its various series together, even across channels, so maybe we’ll get a surprise on that score.

With the big two DC super hero shows secure, it’ll be interesting to see if there are any thoughts of expanding the roster even more. We’re already getting Brandon Routh as the Atom and Robbie Amell as Firestorm, so the seeds for more spin-offs are there if the people in charge are willing to plant them.
