Kit Harrington, aka Jon Snow on Game of Thrones apparently knows nothing about how comics really work.
"I’d love to play a superhero. I would love to play Batman."
That’s what he told MTV UK when asked if he’d ever consider playing a superhero. Right. Fine. I’m with you so far. Here’s where he falls off:
"I’d camp him up again. He’s gone way too dark and serious. I’d like proper spandex. Superhero movies got all too serious — they need to get silly again."
*sigh*
Someone’s obviously never read a Batman comic.
As you may or may not know, superhero comics didn’t move into the ‘campy’ realm until federally mandated as a result of the McCarthy hearings and Fredric Wertham‘s asinine book The Seduction of the Innocent. Before that, comics challenged social inequity, criticized the political power structure and gave hope to the downtrodden.
After the hearings, Batman fought Egghead. If only people knew…
