Marvel Teases New Howard The Duck Series For April… I Think

So Marvel sent this teaser yesterday, which on its own, seems like just a playful jab at its competition.

See, DC was going to do a “WTF Certified” gimmick of its own back in April 2013, based on fold-out covers that would reveal shocking moments. As memory serves, the covers rolled out as planned, but DC thought better of the promotion considering what the ‘F’ means in that phrase and decided not to publicize it that way.

However, Newsarama thinks there might be a clever double meaning to this teaser. A little while back, Marvel announced a new Howard the Duck ongoing series by Chip Zdarsky and Joe Quinones, saying only that it was coming in the spring. April is definitely spring, and duck rhymes with … well, you know.

That seems like a pretty good guess to me. It would be weird to be launching new series right into Secret Wars, which seems like it’s going to disrupt a big chunk of the Marvel line, but Howard should be able to keep right on waddling through that event with no problem. What I’m saying is, don’t be surprised if Marvel announces his first issue is coming in April. WTD, indeed.
