Psychiatrists Analyze Gotham’s Villains
Wired asked the psychiatrists from Broadcast Thought to analyze several of the villains from Fox’s hit TV show, Gotham (which just got renewed for a second season).

First up Selina Kyle. The future Catwoman of Gotham. Yes Selina Kyle is a thief, but she also lives on the streets. Does she suffer from some kind of disorder?
"But does she have a mental illness? Possibly. Through her aggression, deceitfulness, theft, and serious violation of rules, Selina displays traits of conduct disorder, the childhood precursor to antisocial personality disorder. This could mean she’s on a somewhat familiar trajectory. About half of real-world prisoners suffer from antisocial personality disorder, so if her conduct disorder develops into that condition—and she continues her criminal ways—Selina could find herself behind bars at Blackgate Penitentiary alongside a lot of people with similar backgrounds."
The psychiatrists not surprisingly call Penguin a psychopath (and a textbook serial killer), but where did his behavior come from? Most likely from a childhood filled with bullying and a an overbearing mother.
Finally, they took a look at one of Gotham’s future villains who is actually currently one of the good guys, Edward Nygma aka the future Riddler. And in addition to being a textbook case of a psychopath, Nygma might suffer from a form of Autism as well:
"Edward’s persistent deficits in social communication and interaction—as well as his restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior and interests—point to autism spectrum disorder. And if that assessment is correct, his riddles could even be seen as a learned social interaction strategy."
