Sony Reveals Powers Premiere Date On PlayStation Network
By Nick Tylwalk
With plenty of super hero shows on TV already, more in the pipeline and Marvel preparing to unleash more on Netflix this spring, it would be easy for Powers to get lost in the shuffle. The creator-owned product of Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming was announced as a series that would air on Sony’s PlayStation Network (after an earlier attempt to develop it for FX fell through), so we knew it was coming, we just didn’t know when.

Bendis cleared that up today, taking to the PlayStation Blog to announce that Powers will premiere on March 10. The first three episodes will debut as a group, with a new episode to follow every Tuesday until the entire 10-episode initial run is complete.
The first scripted drama on PlayStation Network is intended to help convince more people to become PlayStation Plus members, as only people who pay for that service will be able to watch the entire series. However, the first episode will be free to all at PlayStation.com/Powers.
Powers stars Sharlto Copley as Christian Walker, and Susan Heyward as Deena Pilgrim, two homicide detectives attached to a special division that investigates cases that involve super powers. The twist is that Walker used to have powers himself, and if the show follows the comics fairly closely, that could turn out to be both a blessing and a curse.
In conjunction with the TV series announcement, Bendis also revealed that a new version of Powers #1 will be available at comic shops and Comixology this week (on Wednesday, January 21, to be exact) that will help newcomers to the franchise dive into that world. He’s also going to be on Late Night with Seth Meyers tonight, so there are plenty of ways to get more info on Powers before it starts streaming in March.
